SYNOPSIS

     Requires NJT to provide locations at bus terminals and rail stations where bicycles may be safely secured.

An Act concerning New Jersey Transit Corporation bus terminals and rail stations and supplementing Title 27 of the Revised Statutes.

 

     Be It Enacted by the Senate and General Assembly of the State of New Jersey:

 

     1.  The New Jersey Transit Corporation shall provide a location where bicycles may be safely secured at each major bus terminal that provides motorbus regular route service, rail station that provides rail passenger service, and rail terminal that provides rail passenger service that is owned or operated by the corporation.

     The corporation shall ensure that the number of bicycles that may be safely secured at each location shall be sufficient to meet the needs of the location.

 

     2.    This act shall take effect on the first day of the sixth month following enactment.  The Executive Director of the New Jersey Transit Corporation may take such anticipatory actions in advance of that date as may be necessary for the timely implementation of this act.

 

 

STATEMENT

 

     This bill requires the New Jersey Transit Corporation (NJ Transit) to provide locations where bicycles may be safely secured at each major bus terminal, rail station, and rail terminal owned or operated by NJ Transit.  Further, NJ Transit is required to ensure that the number of bicycles that may be safely secured at each location is sufficient to meet the needs of the location.
